Self evaluation

[this is good]
What a struggle to be a good Muslim! May Allah always guide you :D.
Nice post. It's a very important topic. I always wondered this: Since we should try to improve ourselves before improving others, when do we know when or if we ever get to the level of being able to guide others? Especially since we can never be perfect. I wonder how this ties in with the general duty of Islam of enjoining the good (al amr bil maarouf) and forbidding the evil (an nehi aan al munkar)? I always thought that the determining factor is that we must tell someone they are doing wrong if we think they don't know what they are doing is not allowed. But then again, how can we tell someone to do something if we have shortcomings... I definitely need to ask about this one.
Salam Uniter, Glad to see you are back (again!) Hope that life is treating you well inshaAllah. Good question. Similiarly I have always understood the notion that we should enjoin good and forbid evil but we are also taught to leave that which does not concern us?
I think it's also down to the individual and what they are comfortable with, for example, if we see our family member doing something wrong, we would want to correct them, but if we see a friend we dont know too well doing the same, they may feel offended if we advise them (without using the correct method) so we do have to be careful!
I think that self evaluation is an ongoing process similiar to the personal development we have to do at work and study. I in general do not advise anyone to do anything unless they specifically ask me about it as i dont want to be one of those which the Qur'an says who tell others to do good but dont do it myself...if u know what i mean!

Thanks for the info. I agree.

It's nice to be back. May Allah (swt) bless you!
