I chose this word because it is central to the teachings of Islam but at the same time it is overrated, over used and has sort of become a cliche (in terms of explaining to a non-Muslim that the religion of Islam means peace when yet another terrorist attack or suicide bomb has just occured in their neighbourhood)
All we here about it is people working towards peace, we have groups here on Vox with Peace on their agenda, we even have Peace TV (which is an Islamic Channel associated with Dr.Zaka Naik) but what is peace? I don't think peace can be achieved in my lifetime as it requires individuals collectively to want to achieve peace, and the nature of man dictates that majority of individuals (which includes the vast majority of Muslims) do not want to work towards this goal as conflict and war leads to so many other advantages (those who seek peace like myself are in the minority).
How can we as human beings achieve peace as one nation when we are envious, jealous of our neighbours, children, siblings, friends - we start disputes with people, we rant at people who cut us up on the road, we argue with our families over petty things, we don't want the best for them so how can we care for the rest of humanity?
